ISI Certification

I SI is an initialism of Indian Standards Institution.The mark certifies that a product conforms to an Indian standard (IS) developed by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the national standards body of India. The ISI mark is by far the most recognised certification mark in the Indian subcontinent.The ISI mark is mandatory for certain products to be sold in India, such as many of the electrical appliances like switches, electric motors, wiring cables, heaters, kitchen appliances, etc., and other products like Portland cement, LPG valves, LPG cylinders, automotive tyres, etc. In the case of most other products, ISI marks are optional.
 The ISI mark signifies that product is safe to use and has a good quality.The ISI mark certification is granted to the companies and products by the BIS which is the standardization authority of India. The main objective of the institution is to ensure that the products that are delivered to the customers are safe for their use and are in attachment with all the quality and safety standards set by ISI. The ISI mark is granted to a product after it has been thoroughly tested by an approved laboratory of BIS.

ISI is mandatory for certain products in India:
1. Cement,  2.Household Electrical goods, 3.Food Products 4. Oil Pressure Stoves, 5. Automobile Accessories, 6. Cylinder, Valves and Regulation, 7. Medical Equipment, 8. Steel Products, 9. Electrical Transformers, Capacitors 10. Chemicals & Fertilizers, 11. Air Conditioner and its related Parts, Hermetic Compressor and Temperature Sensing Controls 12 .Electrical TransformersCylinders, 13. valves, and regulators 14. Batteries, 15. Electrical motors, 16. Clinical thermometer, 17. Packaged Drinking water 18. Kitchen Appliances etc.
 
Validity of ISI Mark Certification:
The licence to use Standard Mark (ISI) shall initially be granted for not less than one year and up to two years. For extension of product varieties covered in licence, application with requisite fee and documents under the existing licence may be submitted.Licence may be renewed up to five years by applying renewal fees and marking fees along with few documents.

First Step  :  Developing of qualitative  product as per IS Standard  
  • Identification of ISI Standard Code
  • Collection of the Testing Sample from applicant, Testing the sample then issue Test Report
Second Step   :  Filing of the Application Form
  • Submission of Application Form with all enclosures
  • Get the confirmation about scrutiny of documents by BIS Office
Third Step  :  Remittance of Audit Fees & Travelling Expenses for Inspection
  • Pay the audit fees for inspection
  • Get the confirmation about BIS Inspection Team
  • Organize the Ticket, Lodging & Boarding for visiting team
  • Inspection team will visit to Factory for Physical Verification
  • Team will verify the Factory Set-up & Quality Control Process
  • Team will pick the random sample to be tested in BIS Approved Lab
Fourth Step :  Organize the Lab Test Report (LTR)
  • Select the BIS recognized lab as per guideline of BIS Office
  • Provide the sample (picked-up by team) of product to get tested
  • Get the test result      
Fifth Step  :  Closure of Non-Conformity (if any) and Remit the Official Fees
  • Rectify the process of Factory Unit, if inspection team  points out
  • Submit the proof of rectification done by unit to close non-conformity
  • Pay the annual marking fees (annual license fees) to BIS
  • Submit the Bank Guarantee to BIS
Sixth Step : Get the ISI Marking /Registration Certificate
1. Copy of the Pan Card of the Company/Firm/LLP.
2. Self attested copy of, Bank Statement, Landline Bill, Power Connection Bill, water Bill in the name of the establishment, Any license/certificate/number issued by any Govt. authority etc., as address proof of the establishment.
3. In case of company Memorandum/Articles of Association/Partnership Deed.
4. ID, Address Proof, Mobile Number & E mail ID of all Directors/Partners.
5. Business Activity of the Company/Firm/LLP.
6.E-Mail id and Mobile number of the firm/company.
7. Product Test Report from laboratory, Drawings & Packaging of Product.
8. Map location, Layout Plan, installed capacity of factory.
9. Details of raw materials & Machinery etc as per product requirements.
